(1904-1993) Born in Xiaoxian, Anhui province. He graduated from Western Painting Department of the State-run Peking Art Training School in 1927 and assumed the position of assistant professor of western painting in the State-run Hangzhou Art Training School in 1928. Also in 1928, he went to France, studying in the Sculpture Department of Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts under the tutorship of the famous sculptor Pusso. In 1933, he returned to China and taught in the Sculpture Department of the State-run Hangzhou Art Training School. In 1943, he left this school for a while and dedicated to sculpture creation. In 1949, he assumed the position of President of Hangzhou Art Training School, and in 1951, he assumed the position of Commissioner of the People's Government of Hangzhou Province and Vice Mayor of Hangzhou city. In 1953, he went to Beijing to assume the position of Head of the Design Office for Monument to the People's Heroes and Chief of the Sculpture Group, in charge of the monument's integral design, and he himself also designed three relief works: Crossing the Yangtze River in Success to Liberate Whole China, Support the Battlefront and Give PLA a Welcome. In 1959, he was transferred to Central Academy of Fine Arts to assume the position of Vice President, and in 1963, he assumed the position of Director of NAMOC. 

Mr. Liu is a famous sculptor. His representative works include Monument to Officers and Soldiers Killed in January 28th Songhu Anti-Japanese War (year 1934), Memorial Portraits of Nameless Heroes (year 1943), large-scale relief Peasant's and Worker's Family (1945) and Bust of Chairman Mao (1951) and so on.

Mr. Yang is a famous painter of traditional chinese painting and also good at calligraphy and literary criticism. From 1959, he started cooperation with his wife Wang Yingchun and they created many masterpieces. The traditional chinese paintings Yellow River is Roaring and Picture of Peasant's Joy created by them in cooperation won Ye Qianyu scholarship; the traditional chinese painting Iron Wall of Taihang Mountain created by them in cooperation in 1984 won golden award of the Sixth National Fine Arts Exhibition and the grand award of the Whole PLA for Literature and Art; his comic book Marriage of Xiao Er Hei won second award of the Third National Comic Book. Many of his works are housed in China or abroad. His publications include painting albums and collected articles such as Collection of Paintings of Wang Yingchun and Yang Lizhou, Collection of Paintings of Yang Lizhou, Collection of Sketches of Yang Lizhou and Selected Words for Art and Literay Circles.

He is a famous painter of traditional chinese paintings. His works of traditional chinese painting such as Under the Apple Tree, Star Fire, Philosophy of Quyuan's Poems, Wisdom of the Century and so on were selected in the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth National Fine Arts Exhibitions, and won more than ten awards including golden, silver bronze awards and award of merit. His works are housed by National Art Museum of China, China Art Institute and American East Asian Art Museum, etc. He ever went to many countries to participate exhibitions and his works were collected. His brief introduction was included in dictionaries such as Biography of Famous Chinese Painters and Calligraphers and Who's Who of American Biographical Center and so on. He has published more than ten dissertations including From Consciousness of Life to Esthetic Perception, Return to Simplicity, Inspiration of Modern Japanese Paintings, To Find the Lost Spirit, Pursuit of Classic, 2003 Art Attention and Thinking, etc. His publications include Feng Yuan's Collection of Traditional Chinese Paintings, Feng Yuan's Selected Works of Ink Figure Paintings, Selected Works of Masters of Traditional Chinese Paintings-Feng Yuan, Course of Study of Ink Figure Painting, East Window Notes and Feng Yuan's Collection of Paintings, etc.

Director of NAMOC

Fan Di'an was born in Fujian province in 1955, and used to act as the vice president and professor of the Central Academy of Fine Art. He has devoted on the research of Chinese fine art in the 20-century, the comment of modern arts, the organization of exhibition and the research of museum. He wrote the Water and Ink Nature of the Contemporary Culture Sentiments; headed the compilation of such books as the Contemporary Chinese Art: 1979-1999, Education of World Art Colleges, and Contemporary Art and Vernacular Culture, etc; organized the Water and Ink Nature, the Chinese Gallery in The 25th St. Paul Biannual Exhibition , Live in the Moment: The Exhibition of Chinese Contemporary Art in Hamburg Train Station of Berlin in German, and Golden Harvest: The Exhibition of Chinese Contemporary Art, etc; and acted as the curator of Urban creation: the 2002 Shanghai Biannual Exhibition, the general curator for the Chinese National Gallery in the 50th and the 51st Venice Biannual Exhibition, and the curator for the 20 Century Chinese Painting Exhibition in Sino-French Culture Year, and the Chinese Contemporary Art Exhibition in Pompidou Center in Paris. He was appointed as the director of the National Art Museum of China in December 2005.
