Director Mr. Wu Weishan, Party Secretary Mr. Xu Li, and Chair Zhang Jianhua of Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, in turn addressed the exhibition, for which Mr. Lu Qinglong returned with a thank-you speech and was then awarded with a donation certificate.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Lu Qinglong expressed his thanks to NAMOC, Nanjing University, China Artists Association and Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles for their cultivation and help. He said that he was born in a common rural family in Yancheng, the north of Jiangsu Province. His long time in the countryside nurtured him, and he had deep emotion for his hometown. He felt grateful for his hometown’s cultivation and care. He conveyed his special appreciation for Mr. Wu Weishan whom he hadn’t known for long and without much contact before. However, Mr. Wu Weishan’s teaching confirmed his orientation of his art creation: to display this great time, to eulogize the great people is artists’ obligatory duty. He would stick to and walk down this road.
The highlight of the exhibition was the display of the four of Mr. Lu Qinglong’s watercolor works that are collected by NAMOC: the Metropolitan Capriccio (2004, bronze award of the 10th National Art Works Exhibition in watercolor and powder painting category), Wait (2004), Brothers (gold award of the 11th National Art Works Exhibition in watercolor and powder painting category), and Basha Sisters (2015). These works give a clear clue of Mr. Lu Qinglong’s efforts and achievements in painting. Besides, this exhibition also embraced Mr. Lu Qinglong’s up to ten new creations, which will contribute to NAMOC’s complete collection of his works in different series.
