National Arts Exhibition and the 13th Whole Army Arts Exhibition for Celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the Founding of People’s Liberation Army

On the afternoon of August 7, 2017, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Culture, the Political Work Department of the CPC Central Military Commission and the Chinese Artists Association, “National Arts Exhibition and the 13th Whole Army Arts Exhibition for Celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the Founding of People’s Liberation Army” was grandly unveiled in National Art Museum of China (NAMOC). With unique art glossary under military themes, this exhibition eulogizes the 90-year brilliant history of the PLA, praise respectfully for growth chronicle, glorious achievement and spiritual monument of the PLA under the leadership of the CPC, inspire and encourage general people and troops to forge ahead and overcome all difficulties to realize China Dream and make the PLA more powerful.
This exhibition attracts extensive attention from all walks of life. The majority of artists inside and outside the PLA actively respond to the call for works, and submit more than 7,000 works. Upon initial evaluation, re-evaluation and final evaluation, a total of 531 entries are shortlisted by exhibition jury. Meanwhile, some classical works and jury members’ works are also especially invited to present themselves. A total of nearly 600 works are on exhibit in various forms such as Chinese painting, oil painting, woodblock, sculpture, installation, watercolor, poster and comic strip. These works are characterized by profound thematic connotations, strong savors of daily life, novel means of artistic expression and diverse forms and styles, enthusiastically extol magnificent development course of the PLA, vividly demonstrate rock-solid military-government unity and military-civilian unity, and intensively make retrospect to grand journey for the PLA to achieve goals of strong army and build a world-class army under the firm leadership of the CPC Central Committee with General Secretary Xi Jinping as the core. These artworks give centralized parade for artistic creations with military themes, but also pay tribute to the 90th anniversary of the founding of the PLA and greet the triumphant opening of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
This ongoing exhibition is jointly held in NAMOC and Eight One Art Museum, which will last until August 9, 2017 (not open to the public on Mondays).
