Young Artists Nomination Exhibition of National Art Museum of China (2017) was opened on May 4, 2017 during Beijing's delightful springtime when it is covered in green, and it is also near the enjoyment of the fragrance of early summer, when everything is full of vitality and energy. On the occasion of the May Fourth Youth Day, NAMOC Academic Invitation Series: Young Artists Nomination Exhibition of National Art Museum of China (2017), organized by NAMOC and co-organized by China Arts Foundation, was opened grandly.
This Young Artists Nomination Exhibition of National Art Museum of China displayed 119 pieces of artworks from 26 young artists, covering six categories including Chinese ink painting, oil painting, print, sculpture, watercolor and calligraphy. Granted the continuous support from the China Arts Foundation, the exhibition will become a series one and be held once a year. It, together with the Young Artists Artworks Collected by NAMOC Series which was curated in 2016, will be the important brand exhibitions to promote the creation and development of the contemporary Chinese young artists. NAMOC is the highest level of art house of the country, thus it is her important responsibility to guide the direction of young artists in creation and provide them a wide platform for display and development.
Among the 26 artists, there are 10 Chinese painting painters including Chen Sanyin, Chen Zhi, Lei Miao, Liu Bo, Qiu Jiaming, Song Yanjun, Su Rui, Wang Guanjun, Wu Xin and Xu Huijun; 6 oil painters, including Cheng Zhiguo, Chi Yinghong, Lin Mao, Peng Si, Song Haiyong and Gulistan; 7 sculptors, including Chen Jian, Li Xuanfeng, Li Yifu, Liu Song, Liu Qing, Ma Wenjia and Ren Yanming; 1 printmaker, Peng Wei; 1 watercolor painter, Zhao Long and 1 calligrapher, Yang Tao. They all graduated from plastic arts majors of different professional art academies nationwide. Some of them earned a Doctor’s Degree and are working in some universities and colleges or institutes for creation and research, and at the same time got enrolled or won prizes in nationwide and international art exhibitions. Artists born during the 1970s and the 1980s take the majority among them in terms of age.
The exhibition is shown at NAMOC from No. 13 to 17 exhibition halls on the third floor, No. 23 and 24 exhibition halls on the ground floor as well as the eastern and western sculpture corridors. It will last until May 9.
