Xi Jinping Visits the “Use the Brush of Dreams to Paint New Lands-- Art Exhibition Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Singapore”

In the morning of November, 7th, China’s state president Xi Jinping, who is paying a state visit to Singapore , and Wu Zuodong, Singapore’s Honor Senior Minister present at the Chinese Cultural Center in Singapore to visit the “Use the Brush of Dreams to Paint New Lands-- Art Exhibition Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Singapore”, accompanied by Wang Huning, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and Director of China Central Policy Research Office; Li Zhanshu, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee; Secretary of Secretariat of the Central Committee and Director of General Office of the Central Committee; State Councilor Yang Jiechi; Wang Yi, Minister of Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Xu Shaoshi, Director of National Development and Reform Commission; Luo Shugang, Minister of Ministry of Culture. Wu Weishan, Curator of National Art Museum of China, and Chen Weide, Curator of National Art Museum of Singapore made introductions for leaders of both sides respectively. This exhibition is jointly hosted by National Art Museum of China, National Art Museum of Singapore and Chinese Cultural Center in Singapore. The works do not only have profound themes on history and colorful themes on nationality, but also lively themes on temporary culture. The exhibition was composed by 50 classic works by 25 Chinese artists and 25 Singaporean artists, collecting the excellent works of five sorts of paintings including Chinese painting, oil painting, print painting, watercolour and sculpture.

When talking about the theme of this exhibition, Wu Weishan said that “the sea in the south slowly converges with the river in the north” and Sino-Singapore relationship has a long history. The dreams in “Use the Brush of Dreams to Paint New Lands” refer to “Chinese Dream”, “Singaporean Dream” and “World’s Dream”, which integrate people and people as well as nation and nation, and link the ancient times and the modern times, the present and the future, peace and prosperity. The New in “Use the Brush of Dreams to Paint New Lands” refer to “New Level”, “New Times” and “New Future”. The part of Chinese art of this exhibition collects classic works of contemporary China’s excellent old, middle-aged and young artists, showing the dream for art of three generations of artists. Art works can solidify history, present reality and show the future, and thus new fashion of the times can be created and reflected. The exhibition undoubtedly show the lively picture that Sino-Singapore people commonly dream of peace and prosperity and jointly create wonderful future. It is the new exploration and new creation of artists in both countries on how to show the ideal aspect of beauty by using the form of beauty. This exhibition has profound significance.

This exhibition will last till the end of this year.
