Memory and Dream--The 6th China Beijing International Art Biennial kicks off in NAMOC

On September 24, 2015, Memory and Dream – The 6th China Beijing International Art Biennial was inaugurated in the National Museum of China (NAMOC). The exhibition was jointly sponsored by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Beijing Municipal government and Chinese Artists Association.

The biennial exhibition, themed with “memory and dream”, was to call upon artists across the world to make artistic creations on world memories and human dreams, in the main forms of contemporary painting and sculpture. It is also an artistic interpretation and sublimation of the 70th anniversary of the victory of world anti-fascist war. It unites history and reality, links the past and future, and embodies humanistic concerns of artists.

The exhibited works comprise the varieties of painting, sculpture, devices and images. Artists from 96 countries displayed 685 pieces of artistic works in the exhibition. In addition to the theme show, the exhibition consists of six special demonstrations of contemporary art from Canada, Chile, Ecuador, Southeast Asia, Armenia and South Africa. In the course of collecting works, the sponsors got warm responses from artists across the world as they released the theme. The artists started creation around the theme. The organizing committee received 18,386 pieces of contributes from 6,650 artists in 106 countries and regions, much higher than previous sessions. As a result of meticulous selection, 605 artists from 96 countries, including China, the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Canada and Australia, got the precious “admission tickets.”

The biennial exhibition, in the form of art, brought together historical and cultural memories of various countries, and people’s longing, expectation and pursuit of the future. It was a high-standard feast of visual arts for art lovers of the world. The exhibited works gave expression to the reflections of artists on “memory and dream” in different aspects. The exhibition would last till October 14.
