Yin Xiaofeng Works Exhibition kicked off in the National Art Museum of China on June 28. The exhibition was sponsored by the National Art Museum of China and China City Sculptor Association, and undertaken by Changchun Society of City Sculpture and Changbaishan Modern Sculpture Art Research Institute.

Wu Weishan, curator of the National Art Museum of China, said in his opening speech that Yin, as with many other middle-aged artists, caught the good time of reform and opening up, and the restoration of the college entrance examination system. He thus had the chance of making a systematic study in the campus, going abroad, and taking part in social cultural construction by creating urban sculptures. For Yin, such platforms as the Changchun World Sculpture Conference sponsored by Changchun municipal government and China City Sculpture Committee, the construction of Changchun World Sculpture Park, and the college of fine arts under Northeast Normal University were fertile soils to grow up, develop and display his ability. This gave him more opportunities to exchange with artists home and abroad, and integrated more youthful vitality and creativity in the interaction of teaching that benefited both teachers and students. He maintained personal independence in the road of self-innovation, which granted his works with emotional characteristics and distinct artistic style. In recent years, he has constantly improved and purified his art, as shown in his image-modeling Turgus, richly primitive Mammy and awe-inspiring subject of Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army. This art, of extremely tensile force, is melted with his artistic accomplishments in sketching and watercolor painting, and this is due to his natural instincts of making constant exploration.

Yin won two silver prizes in the national art exhibition for sculptures. He is a sculptor chosen into the fine arts creation project on major historical themes of the 20th century. His works are adept in perfect combination of divinity and humanity, typical in the exploration and reproduction of regional culture, and unique in the use of materials. They could profoundly manifest the intrinsic power of sculpture targets, showing solid basic skills.

On the basis of inheriting tradition, Yin has made unremitting pursuit of the plastic arts in the past three decades, and established his personal artistic features. He is an excellent sculptor, with high attainments in the painting art. The exhibition will display over 300 pieces of works of Yin, dating from 1979 to 2015, involving the artistic forms of sculpture, installation, watercolor, sketch and shorthand. They are showcase of Yin’s creation process, academic attitude and aesthetic pursuit over the past 30 years.
