Li Lanqing presents his seal cuttings in Seoul

Sponsored by organizing committee of Li Langqing seal cutting calligraphic exhibition and Chinese Embassy in Republic of Korea, an exhibition called “Chinese seal “is currently on display at the Seoul Arts Center of Republic of Korea.

Li Langqing is a famous Chinese politician as former member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee and vice premier of the State Council. Boasting profound cultural and artistic qualification, he was in charge of such areas as business, trade, education and technology. He was engaged in creating and promoting culture and art especially the traditional Chinese seal cutting and the publicity of noble music. In the past decade, Li Langqing created more than 1000 pieces of seal cuttings and a large number of calligraphic artworks and published more than 10 monographs related with the economy, education, seal cutting and music. He made some innovations based on the tradition of the seal cutting in terms of the content, the form and the tool.

It is the efforts by Li Lanqing that make seal cutting as an ancient art is refreshing with vigor and vitality. The seal cutting becomes important artistic media to present modern life, and turn into popular art from awful niche art.

The exhibition showcases a total of 327 pieces of seal cutting and some calligraphic artworks by the artist in a bid to reflect his latest achievements made in the field of seal cutting.  

The exhibition opens since Nov.15 until Dec. 8
