"'85 and an Art Academy" exhibition shows researches on "'85 new artistic thought"

Sponsored by National Research Center for Modern Art, China Academy of Art and the National Art Museum of Chin, an exhibition entitled “’85 and an Art Academy” is currently on display at Hall 19,20 and 21 of the museum.

The exhibition is intended to focus on a series of artistic events which happened at Zhejiang Academy of Art around the year of 1985. The exhibits including artworks and documents reveal the development of new artistic thoughts at the institution and researches on historical and social meaning of the artistic event with the context of the Chinese contemporary art in the 20th century.

Initiated by “’85 new artistic thought”, the contemporary art arose, developed and flourished during sustained evolution of Chinese society in the new age. National Research Center for Modern Art is intended to promote research, publicity and promotion of the Chinese modern art in ways of organizing related academic projects and sorting out important historical materials about the modern and contemporary art.

The show is expected to reflect the dynamic role of the heritage and the conception of running the institution in the fields of knowledge production and artistic innovation. More efforts are made to ponder the accomplishment of the current Chinese artistic education.

The exhibition comprises four parts, namely, course, dispute, breakthrough and new trend of thoughts. It is necessary that reconstruct the development course of “’85 artistic thoughts” and recognize its value and meaning.

The exhibition opens until Dec. 20, 2013.
