An exhibition entitled “Chongqing custom” is currently on display at the museum to showcase more than 40 pieces of wash paintings by Deng Jianqiang.

Deng Jianqiang, born in 1962 in Hechuan, Chongqing, is famous for heavy- color ink paintings and focuses on natural scenery of Sichuan and Chongqing. The exhibits reflect his passion with his hometown and the nature as well as his understanding about the art.

The exhibits include recent artworks by the artist in the field of wash paintings, which boast a good combination of thick ink and heavy colors. The combination is the unique feature of the paintings. Inspired by the Duhuang murals, the artist pays attention to the vitality and the tension of the color.

The artist stresses on observation and attitude on the spot instead of following the traditional composition of flower-bird paintings and also conveys progressive spiritual strength in terms of aesthetic charm.

The exhibition opens at Hall 6 until Nov.12, 2013.
