Sponsored by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Publicity Department of the CPC Party Committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Chinese Artists’ Association and the National Art Museum of China, an artistic exhibition entitled “North and South of Mount Tianshan” is currently on display at the museum to showcase a number of artworks with the theme of Xinjiang region. The exhibition is the largest exhibition of this kind since the establishment of New China.

A total of more than 300 exhibits comprise masterpieces with the theme of Xinjiang since the 1990s, especially excellent artworks by famous contemporary artists. The exhibition is expected to provide an overview of artistic achievements concerning Xinjiang region in the past six decades, including local beautiful scenery, simple folk custom and historical heritage.  

Since June, 2010, the Chinese Artists’ Association organized the artists from across the country for four times to travel Xinjiang. The artists include more than 90 artists, such as Liu Dawei, Feng Yuan, Wu Changjiang, Pan Shixun and ShiguoLiang. The exhibits cover a wide range of categories from the traditional Chinese painting and the oil painting to the engraving and the watercolor.    

The artistic creation with the theme of the minority plays an important role in the history of the Chinese art. An artistic exhibition entitled “Inspiration from the Plateau” held in the museum before is the first kind to display artistic creation with the theme of Tibet Autonomous Region. And the relevant exhibition with Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region will be held next year.

The exhibition opens at Hall 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 since Nov.12 until Nov. 28.
