Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, an artistic exhibition is currently on display at the National Art Museum of China in memory of the centennial ceremony of the 1911 Revolution. The exhibition entitled “centennial development and inspiring painting”comprises nearly 300 artworks and reflects the commemoration of the revolution in the artistic circle.

The 1911 Revolution is the first historic turning of China in the twentieth century. The revolution overthrew the feudal reign of the Qing Dynasty and gave an end to the monarchy system which lasted for thousands of years in China. It is regarded as a great milestone in the Chinese history. Represented by Sun Yat-sen , a number of heroes and heroines made unyielding struggles and made remarkable achievements. The revolution reflects earnest wishes of Chinese people to fight for national dependence and revitalization and boasts profound and far-reaching influence in the development process of the Chinese nation. 

The exhibits cover a wide range of categories, including the traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, the oil painting, the engraving, the sculpture and the watercolor painting. The exhibition comprises three parts, namely, “aspiration”, “memory” and “wishes”.

The first part of the exhibition displays a number of artworks created by heroes during the revolution and celebrities, including Sun Yat-sen, Huang Xing, Yu Youren and He Xiangning. The exhibits vividly reflect the feature of the painting and the calligraphy art during the revolution and also new outlook of the Chinese art in the early 20th century.

The second part boasts fine collections from the National Art Museum of China and relevant artistic institutions regarding the 1911 Revolution. Sun Yat-sen is pioneer of the Chinese Democratic Revolution and main leader of the 1911 Revolution. The creation and the image of Sun Yet-sen highlight the exhibition.

It is worth mentioning nearly one hundred artists from the mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas countries are invited to create artworks for the exhibition. The exhibition boasts clear themes, abundant contents and numerous highlight with high artistic level. 

The third part comprises a number of artworks by participant artists on Oct. 8 at the National Art Museum of China, all of which are collected by the museum.

The exhibition opens at Hall 1, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9 since Oct.10 until Oct.22.
