Sponsored by Lanzhou Municipal Government, a painting exhibition of the traditional Chinese painting and oil paintings was unveiled on July 31, 2009 and has been on display at Hall 7 and 9 on August 5, 2009. Entitled in “The soul of the Yellow River”, the exhibition is the debut of the collection of Lanzhou artistic works.

The function of folk collection covers a total area of 12,000 from the source of the Yellow River and nine provinces and regions along the river. The artists have developed more profound and vivid understanding for the natural scenery, the humane history and folk customs of the Yellow River. More than 20 artists present a total of 100 traditional Chinese paintings and oil paintings, including Guo Wentao, Dong Jiquan, Wei Bowen, Wang Fumin, Zuo Heping, Wu Weidong, Zhao Jianyu.

With tours already in such places as Lanzhou, Jinan, Qingdao, Chengdu, Kunming, Fuzhou, the exhibition has made a contribution to improving the professional level of the art schools especially in the fields of theoretical exploration of the art and the development orientation of the school. Meanwhile, the exhibition has played an important role in opening Ganshu province and Lanzhou city to the outside.

As a present for the New China 60th anniversary, the exhibition is expected to let more audience know about the characteristic of the local art, promote the exchange in the artistic circle and also improve the overall creation level of the local art.
