Chinese American artist Hou Beiren holds painting exhibition

Sponsored by China Culture Daily and Art Observation, Hou Beiren has held his landscape painting exhibition at Hall 5 until Dec. 14 with more than 50 pieces of paintings on display. 

Born in Northeastern China’s Liaoning Province in 1917, Hou Beiren was graduated from Kyushu Imperial University of Japan and made remarkable accomplishments in paintings including landscape, birds and flowers and calligraphy. Greatly influenced by Zhang Daqian, Hou Beiren presents magnificent and simple paintings featured by the unique Chinese style. Feng Qiyong expressed his praise that all his paintings reveal profound artistic conception.

As a patriot, Hou Beiren donated a total of 300 paintings he created and collected all his life to Kunshan city of Jiangsu in 2002 including the paintings by Zhang Daqian and Fu Baoshi, and also established where the government built in “Hou Beiren Museum”.
