Introduction to the work:
In 1927, Jiang Zhaohe made friends with Xu Beihong and his charcoal drawing was deeply influenced by Xu. After 1·28 Songhu campaign of Anti-Japanese War broke up, he went to Nanjing to join the solcit contributions of Sun Yat-sen statue and during this period, he created "Statue of Huang Zhenzhi". Huang Zhenzhi was a businessman who liked arts very much and helped artists Xu Beihong and Jiang Zhaohe a lot. ThisSculpture was a small statue of a small proprietor, which was created when Jiang Zhaohe lived in Huang's house in Shanghai. HisSculpture style combines the Western realism with Chinese traditional drawing together to create a new style. In the period of Culture Revolution, this Sculpture works survived being hidden in waster paper. Jiang Zhaohe settled down in Peking in 1937 and created "Sitting Posture of the Elderly", "Statue of Qi Baishi", etc.
