Introduction to the work:
Fu Tianchou (1920-1992), origin in Nanhai of Guangdong province. He graduated inSculpture department of Chongqing State-owned Arts School in 1945 and did Sculpture works in Hong Kong during 1947 to 1949. Later, he taught in Central Academy of Fine Art as dean and professor of Sculpture department. His magnum opus is the relief Sculpture "Wuchang Uprising" for "Monument to People's Heroes". The works "Statue of Xu Beihong" was created in 1980s when the Xu Beihong memorial was rebuilt for the requirement of Xu Beihong's wife Ms. Liao Jingwen. In the beginning of 1950s, he was under the leadership of the president of Central Academy of Fine Art – Xu Beihong so that he respected Xu very much. He molded the image of Xu Beihong in a serious and realistic way in profound sensation. This statue was put in front of Xu Beihong memorial. Fu Tianchou also emphasized the Chinese traditional Sculpture and advocated to save the ancient arts heritages and the combination of oriental and western arts.
