Xiao Fangkai was born in Dayu of Jiangxi province in 1976. In 2007, he graduated from the painting department of the academy of fine arts of Tsinghua University with a master’s degree. He is now studying for the doctoral degree in the department. He lives in Beijing.

A total of 46 pieces of works are exhibited in National Art Museum of China, in the forms of oil paintings on the easels and manuscripts (including watercolor on paper, paper-based charcoal and watercolor fan art). To materialize the theme of "Trans · Form", the exhibition is designed to create the artistic conception of winding paths of Chinese gardens, enabling the viewers to have a more intuitive sense of participation in the course of walking. The “Trans · Form” is actually a reconstruction of the humanistic pictures of self and the present world, rather than deviation or loss of the original shape and appearance.

In the new works on display, Xiao has created frosted glass touch and poetic charm of antique taste with unscrupulous stroke details, rich color changes and unique composition. They explain his understanding of Chinese traditional culture and the present humanities.
