The year 2017 marks the centenary of the birth of ZongQixiang. The exhibition will be unveiled exactly on the birthday of ZongQixiang, showing the gratitude of NAMOC to ZongQixiang and his family for the generous donation to the country.
ZongQixiang (1917--1999), a famous artist and art educator in China, was good at landscape paintings, figure paintings and flower and bird paintings. He was especially skilled in night scene paintings. He made a name in the painting circles in the 1950s and 1960s. He served as the director of the watercolor painting teaching and research office, and the director of the landscape section of the Department oftraditional Chinese painting of the China Central Academy of Fine Arts. The exhibition will review in three main parts Zong’s copy learning in the early stage, his sketch creation by traveling ten thousand miles, and his unremitting artistic exploration. The displayed 100-odd influential works of art will give a brief account of his hard and yet brilliant road of art, highlighting his impressive artistic achievements.
