Silk road is a “secret road”, which has connected Chinese economy, culture, politics and military affairs to western since 2000, playing an important historical role in China’ s communication with West. Yang Xiaoyang left Xi’an in 1985 to Xinjiang through the Silk Road. He has spent 4 months, during which he has done a lot of exploring jobs and drawings. After that, he has explored regions along Silk Road from China to Rome for so many years, and created plenty of paintings shown surrounding, history and culture of Silk Road. His painting skills varied from Chinese style to combination of China and West, from realistic style to artistic style.

The exhibition has four parts of drawing, topic painting, strong coloring and Chinese ink painting. It embodies his serious and careful exploring spirit, excellent and comprehensive painting skills, and progressive development of artistic Chinese ink painting, explaining the cultural spirit of Silk Road from many aspects.
