Liu Huangzhang was born in 1930 in Leting, Hebei. He who studied seal cutting art from Jin Yumin (a famous Imperial Palace carver) graduated from Central Academy of Fine Arts as postgraduate in 1956 and stayed there to engage in professional creation. Qian Shaowu said, Liu’s style was of “natural, summarize in form, virtual and real combined, static and dynamic harmony”, which inherited the "freehand" tradition to pursue the feeling between “like and unlike" because of Liu’s Chinese style of experience. Liu Huanzhang, whose 16 creations were collections of National Art Museum of China (such as ‘Girl’, ‘Untitled’ and ‘Wrestler’, etc.), held exhibitions in National Art Museum of China three times and was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award" by the Ministry of Culture" in 2004. This is Mr. Liu’s forth exhibition in National Art Museum of China and about 250 creations of sculptures would be played, which may clearly show the art life of a sculpture master.
