Born at the end of 1950s, Liu Yunsheng has won gold award for several times on watercolor in the world. Inheriting traditional techniques and doing assiduous efforts in creation, Liu Yunsheng has made brilliant achievements in watercolor and become outstanding in artists of his generation. Through medium of watercolor, Liu Yunsheng conveys a special observation style, which is a response to realism in modern art context but in fact, a kind of memory and recall to homeland of the senior generation. Therefore, Liu Yunsheng, who has long lived in Tibetan areas, reflects these details of recollection in his figure and landscape painting, portraying people’s psychological reaction on faces by virtue of adequate command of shaping and watercolor techniques. He depicts landscape of great momentum and scenes of daily life of Tibetan region in his landscape painting. Liu Yunsheng often focuses on the face of a child, a lady or an old people in his watercolor, being quite skilled in skin texture molding to some part of a portrait. Through the eyes of these figures, viewers can find a world of truth that is familiar to our life but goes far gradually.
