Si Tiao Ping Exhibition of Chinese Famous Painters

  • Show Time: 2010-12-31至2011-01-09
  • Venues: Hall 13, 14, 15, 16, 17

Si Tiao Ping, the four part screen, is a unique form of Chinese painting. Painted on the limited spaces of a screen consisting of four parts, it shows the distinctive beauty of various subjects such as people, landscape, flowers and birds. Instead of describing grand themes, Si Tiao Ping painters convey their understanding of the everyday life with unique perspective, subtleness as well as passion. Their works, striving to display the essence of their subjects instead of purely stressing on resemblance, are always exquisite pieces which arouse their beholders’ appreciation, for they bestow expressive charms, profound emotions and artistic spirit on ordinary things in our daily life. Moreover, created with traditional painting skills to express painter’s feeling, they are works both traditional and creative.

The Exhibition of Si Tiao Ping Works of Famous Chinese Painters is organized by the Centre of International Cultural Exchange of the Ministry of Culture of China, sponsored by China Culture Painting &Calligraphy Academy, and academically supported by National Art Museum of China and China National Academy of Painting. With 128 masterpieces of famous contemporary Chinese painters on display, it will present a real artistic experience in the National Art Museum of China from the end of 2010 to the beginning of 2011. Exploring the identity of traditional Chinese arts in the new artistic era of multiple patterns, and stirring up Chinese painters’ creativity and new ideas, it will broaden the developmental space of traditional Chinese painting in the contemporary time.
