Born in Northeastern China’s Liaoning Province, He Beiren learnt from Huang Binhong and Zheng Shiqiao after graduated from Kyushu Imperial University of Japan and immigrated to California of USA. With his devotion to the Chinese paintings in the past seventy years, he has researched on the tradition and innovation and established a new school.

Hou Beiren has held several exhibitions in both China and the USA, including those exhibitions in National Art Museum of China in 1984, in Auhui Museum in 1984, M. H. de Young Memorial Museum in 1963, De Saisset Art Gallery of University of Santa Clara in 1959 and University of California in Berkeley in 1963. His works were collected by various museums and were sold by an auction in Sotheby of New York.

The artist donated a total of 300 paintings he created and collected all his life to Kunshan city of Jiangsu, where the government built in “Hou Beiren Museum”2004.
