The oil paintings and delicate ink-wash paintings are the representatives of the systems and the heritage of art in the west and the east. They are the most different paintings. But now, in today’s China the Chinese oil paintings and the delicate ink-wash paintings are the parts of Chinese culture with the differences in tools materials forms and languages, but with the same missions of art. In the contraction of the socialism culture, under the direction of inheriting and creating we need the excellent works meet the times of today’s China. So we put the very different two painting styles together in one exhibition, to inspect the achievements that artists got in this subject and to promote the exchange learning and reference between the two painting styles. At the same time we discussed the social roles of the art of portraiture in present age, and the art orientation and the development foreground. It as very important meaning and function in the development of the portraiture in future and the art practices of artists in future.
