In 1956, Sun Xinchuan was admitted by junior class of middle school attached to Central Academy of Fine Arts at the age of 12 and studied in Dong Xiwen studio of Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1962. He benefited from the idea "learn hundreds of styles, foreign and domestic" of the master and made well-knit basis for his art life.

The year of 2006 is fifty-anniversary arts life for the artist. The artist has gone through difficulties and hardships on the way of arts life. After retuning to homeland in 2001 from UAE, Sun Xinchuan was involved in the exploration of blend of Chinese and Western cultures. He discovered the nature beauty by heart and wisdom. His works reflect the power of life and the form beauty, which can be called the symphony of life thoughts.

Different from the romantic style of oil paintings, his sketches are realistic, precise, which are strongly impressed audience. His talents are reflected also in the sculpture works, especially the thoughts of structure and space of his metallic sculpture works.
