The Triangle Plum is Blooming

Author: Lan Lina

The age of creation: 1990

Specifications: 92×122cm

Material quality: Lacquer

Introduction to the work:
There was an inclination of realistic expression in lacquer painting, because of its imitation of oil painting and engraving, but it is not where the advantage of lacquer painting lies. Around 1990s, many lacquer painters took the load of realistic expressing off their mind, and embraced decoration and lacquer painting. The poetic appeal and the stylistic beauty were displayed in their paintings with ease. "The Triangle Plum Is Blooming" by Lan Lina was a good example. This picture expresses the awaken of spring, the call of the nature, and people's longing for beautiful life. The main material of this picture is natural raw lacquer, and aluminum powder is also used. The background is inlaid with a broken eggshell, whose texture displays the unique beauty of the material. The branches are crisscrossed, and the plums are in full blossom. The girls are wandering in the woods, and several birds are flying. It is just like they are embraced by spring.

Lan Lina, was a female artist of the She Ethnic group. She was born in Nanjing County, Fujian Province in 1958. She entered the Fine Art Department of Central Academy of Fine Art in 1988, and now a professional painter in Beijing.
