Introduction to the work:
In 1947, the PLA won victory after victory in China's War of Liberation (1946-1949). Chiang Kaishek, the KMT leader, played a double game. On the one hand, he proposed the "Plan for Peace" to confuse the people, on the other hand, he prepared for war actively. With his acute political sensitivity, and strong sense of responsibility as a revolutionary artist, he recorded the historical reality with concise and vivid cartoons. His portrait of Chiang Kaishek was the most successful and most praised among all his cartoons. Hua Junwu was a representative figure that drew cartoons with brush ever after Feng Zikai. Subsequently, he absorbed the conceptive skills of Qi Baishi in his work. He got inspiration from freehand brushwork in Chinese figure painting, and his cartoons had strong national characteristics.
