Introduction to the work:
Pan Yuliang(1899-1977), female, originally known as Zhang Yuliang. She was born in Tongcheng, Anhui. She is a legend. Her parents died when she was very young, and she was sold to a brothel when she was 14 years old. Later she was redeemed by Pan Zanhua, and was admitted to Shanghai Artistic Training School to study Western painting in 1918. In 1921, she went to study in Euroup. She received Rome Scholarship for her excellent results of study. She entered Royal Art College in Rome, Italy to pursue advanced studies of painting andSculpture. In 1929, she took the office of a professor in Shanghai Artistic Training School. She was also invited to act as a professor of the Department of Fine Arts in Nanjing Central University. She left Shanghai in 1937 for France again and settled down in Paris.

The painter proposed "a combination of western and oriental style" which endows the work with strong oriental feature, and the Horn of July 7. Her works were all sent back to the motherland in 1985, and most of them are in Museum of Anhui. 17 are in National Art Museum of China.

There is a strong contrast between the red wall, carpet, round table and the blue mattress. The lines and color are like the style of French Fauvism, and quite decorative.
