The "Six Session of the National Youth Fine Art Exhibition" Inaugurated in Beijing

National Art Museum of China (News, June 8) In order to continue to create a good mechanism for the development of young art talents, encourage them to dare to make breakthrough, reflect the exploration and achievements of Chinese contemporary youths in artistic creation and academic innovation and show the blazing emotion of young art talents for society and life and their unremitting pursuit of art, the Six Session of the National Youth Fine Art Exhibition, jointly sponsored by the All-China Youth Federation, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC) and the China Artists Association, was inaugurated at National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) on June 8, 2018. 
The National Youth Fine Art Exhibition is a national comprehensive exhibition that has been held for five times since it was first held in 1957, with a history of more than 60 years. The exhibition is an important platform for young artists to inherit the tradition and make innovation, draw on others’ successful experience, and show their concern over society and their own growth. It has a far-reaching social impact, and has attracted a wide range of young artists to participate in. Over the past 60 years, the National Youth Fine Art Exhibition has provided young artists in every historical period with the opportunity to come to the fore, to stand out and be spokespersons for the art of the times, with their works becoming the most avant-garde classics of the times in the art history of the new China.
In order to bring the "Six Session of the National Youth Fine Art Exhibition" into an innovative, distinctive and high-end exhibition, the China Artists Association opened the creation training course in November 2017, invited young artists with much popularity and creative strength to carry out creation seminar and sketch study together as well as experts to provide guidance on the creation for them, and organized students to collect materials in the Beijing Daxing International Airport terminal, super major bridge over the Guanting Reservoir of Beijing-Zhangjiakou Intercity Railway and Badaling tunnel and other construction sites so as to present a number of excellent works reflecting the great spirit of the times. On the basis of openness, transparency, stringent specification and strict requirements, the judges adhered to the people-centered approach and paid special attention to the academic, innovative and diversified requirements of the exhibition in selecting works to be exhibited.
The exhibition has attracted a wide variety of national young artists to participate in as always, with totally 12,030 pieces received, among which 387 pieces of 8 categories including Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, sculpture, watercolor and gouache, lacquer painting, illustrations and comics, and comprehensive material painting are selected by judges of the Committee, and the top 46 works will be selected for the "13th National Artworks Exhibition". The "Six Session of the National Youth Fine Art Exhibition" was held at the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening up of China. Almost all the exhibitors were born and grow up in the new era where Chinese nation is moving towards modernization, soaring economic growth and the great rejuvenation. They are with much broader horizon, keen in thinking and with active and diverse creative ideology, but they still carry out creation and innovation by being deep-rooted in the national culture, thus their works can truly convey the people's thoughts and emotions in this era.
