香港艺术馆是香港特区政府娱乐及文化事务部下属的博物馆之一。艺术馆创立于1962年，最初设于市政厅大楼，至1991年，位于香港文化中心的新馆落成，艺术馆迁到现址。艺术馆总面积达17,530平方米，共分为七个展览厅：专题展览厅(一)(二)、当代香港艺术展览厅、虚白斋所藏中国书画馆、中国文物展览厅(一)(二)以及中国书画展览厅。

    香港艺术馆致力保存中国文化精髓和推广香港艺术，至今搜集的藏品有14,000余件，包括中国书画、古代文物珍品、具历史意义的画作及本地艺术家的创作成果。藏品精选部分在长期展览厅展出。其专题展厅经常举办本地及来自世界各地的短期展览，内容涉及古今中外的专题。此外，艺术馆还会安排与展览相关的教育及推广活动，提升公众对艺术创作的认识和兴趣，将艺术普及于群众。

    香港艺术馆的中国古代文物部的藏品种类丰富，涵盖年代久远，从新石器时代下至二十世纪之间的艺术精品都囊括在内。当代艺术陈列室所展出的作品以10年为一个展览单位，可以清楚地看到自1950年代起当地艺术发展的脉络。由于展览空间有限，馆藏品不能全数同时展出。有鉴及此，艺术馆已加强它的网页数据，让公众可以在网上浏览各类藏品，认识艺术馆的收藏。

Hong Kong Museum of Art

The Hong Kong Museum of Art is one of the museums managed by the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Established in 1962, it was first housed in the City Hall, moving to its present purpose-built premises by the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in 1991. It holds an area of 17,530 square meters, including seven exhibition halls. They are Special Exhibition Hall(1) (2), Contemporary Hong Kong Art, Xu Baizhai Collection of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, Chinese Antiquities(1) (2), and Chinese Painting and Calligraphy.

Hong Kong Museum of Art dedicated to preserve the cultural heritage of China and promote Hong Kong art. Its collection has reached 14,000 art objects, including Chinese paintings and calligraphy works, Chinese antiques, paintings with historical significance as well as the ones created by local artists. The highlights of the collections are displayed in permanent galleries. The museum also presents a great variety of thematic exhibitions from local and overseas areas. In addition, the Museum conduct education and promotion activities related to exhibitions, in order to enhance the public awareness and interest about art.

Responsible for the largest part of the museum’s collection, the Chinese Antiquities Section has over 4,000 objects in a diverse range of media. With exhibits dating from the Neolithic period to the 20th century.

Exhibits in Hong Kong Art are divided into units, each of which spanning 10years. Through these exhibits, the development of local art since 1950 is shown to visitors. As the exhibition space is limited, the collections in Hong Kong Art Museum cannot be shown at the same time. Consequently, the museum has updated its website. Visitors are welcomed to appreciate collections of different kinds.
