浙江省美术馆工程2002年正式决策启动，2005年5月动工，是浙江文化大省建设的标志性工程，馆址设在杭州市南山路138号，毗邻西湖，总投资3亿元人民币，总占地面积34， 933平方米，总建筑面积31，550平方米，陈列展览面积7203平方米，其中恒温恒湿展厅2，362平方米，恒温恒湿库房1，857平方米，工程将于2007年6月竣工，2008年上半年开馆运行。

    浙江省美术馆是由政府投资并管理的非赢利性、开放性和永久性文化事业机构，是代表国家承担美术作品、美术文献的征集、收藏、陈列、展示，并利用美术资源开展教育推广、学术研究、对外交流和休闲服务的艺术博物馆。浙江省美术馆按照“立足浙江，面向全国；重在当代，兼顾历史”的立馆宗旨和“多元性、开放性、学术性”的立馆形象，进行美术品和美术文献的收藏、展示、研究，举办各类美术展览和其他艺术、学术活动，建成后的浙江美术馆功能完善、设施先进，能够举办各类美术活动和其它学术、艺术活动，成为全国重要的美术活动基地。

    浙江省美术馆围绕反映浙江美术大省地位和浙江美术馆形象建立美术藏品体系、陈列展览体系、学术研究体系、审美教育体系、文化交流体系。目前，已经向全国十届美展等国内重要展览、现当代美术家征集了近1，000件藏品。

    浙江省美术馆［筹］于2003年正式建立，2008年开馆后过渡为浙江省美术馆，上级主管部门为浙江省文化厅。目前事业编制12人，已经设立综合部（负责文书、档案、人事、财务、信息、宣传、总务等工作）、业务部（负责藏品征集、陈列设计方案编制及实施等业务工作）、工程部（负责工程建设管理与监督等工作），研究和策展人员5人。已经开设浙江美术馆网站(www.zjam.org.cn)。

Zhejiang Provincial Art Museum

Zhejiang Provincial Art Museum, a government-funded art project, was formally planned in 2002 and launched in May 2005. It is the symbol project of building Zhejiang a big province of cultural significance. Zhejiang Provincial Art Museum is located in No 138, Nanshan Road, neighboring on the famous West Lake. With a total investment of 3 billion RMB, the Museum takes up a total area of 34,933 square meters, including a construction area of 31,550 square meters and an exhibition area of 7,203 square meters, in which there is a constant temperature and humidity exhibition hall of 2,362 square meters and a constant temperature and humidity storehouses of 1,857 square meters. The project will be completed in June 2007. The museum will open to public in the first half of 2008.

Invested and managed by the government, Zhejiang Provincial Art Museum is a permanent non-profitable cultural organization that opens to public. It represents the country to undertake the collection, storage, display and exhibition of art works and documents. Meanwhile, the Art Museum carries out educational research programs, foreign exchange and entertainment services based on its art resources. With a tenet of basing on Zhejiang Province, facing to all over the country; focusing on the modern times, giving attention to the ancient times and the characteristics of diversity, open and technicality, Zhejiang Provincial Art Museum collects, displays and studies the art works and documents, holds all kinds of exhibitions and other art & academic activities. After its foundation, Zhejiang Provincial Art Museum will be boasting perfect functions as well as advanced facilities, and will be an important base for art activities in China by being able to hosting all kinds of art exhibitions and academic activities.

With the aim to reflect the important art status of Zhejiang Province and to build the image of Zhejiang Provincial Art Museum, the Museum will develop the collection by establishing the art works collection system, the display and exhibition system, the academic research system, the aesthetic education system and culture exchange system. At present, ZAM has already collected 1000 pieces art works from the 10th National Art Exhibition and some contemporary artists.

Zhejiang Provincial Art Museum (under preparation) was built in 2003. It will formally become Zhejiang Provincial Art Museum with the opening in 2008. Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture is its superior leader. There are 12 authorized employees so far, three departments (integrated dept, operation dept and engineering dept.) and the web (www.zjam. org.cn) are set up.
