四川美术馆建于1992年5月，地处中国西部政治、经济、文化中心成都市中心地段，位于天府广场西侧人民南路2号，南临蜀都大道，东接人民南路，毗邻人民公园，省展览馆、市体育场及省文物大楼，是一个集文化、休闲娱乐的黄金地段。四川美术馆占地6亩，建筑面积6,000平方米。整个建筑外墙均由黑灰色大理石和弧形玻璃幕墙组成，赋予传统与现代交融的理念。美术馆外周边绿草坪上摆放了6座风格各异的雕塑作品，已成为成都乃至四川的文化标志性建筑。

    馆内的正厅面积约300 平方米。展示厅分别为，一展厅400 平方米，展线120 米； 二展厅740 平方米，展线183米； 三展厅450 平方米，展线140 米。每个展厅外都有一个近200 平方米的公共区域。展厅内空间高度为6 米；展墙高度为4 米。馆内设画廊（300 平方米） 、艺术书店（200 平方米） 、美术用品专柜、小卖部、咖啡厅、茶座等购物、休息场所； 美术馆东楼还有一个六层的专用办公区域，包括美术馆各部门办公室、会议室、资料室、藏画室等，总共有2,400 平方米。美术馆顶楼有7 间24 平方米标准用房和开阔的屋顶花园。

    四川美术馆属国家文化事业机构编制，财政全额拨款单位。四川美术馆内设展览策划部、收藏研究部、组织联络部、办公室等工作部门。美术馆工人员中有部分国家一级或二级画师和美术理论研究人员，具有较高的艺术创作与研究水平。

    四川美术馆现珍藏有宋元明清以来名人字画真迹近200 件； 另专门设置了“ 神州版画博物馆”，收藏中国20 世纪以来及部分外国版画家版画作品近4000 件。

    四川美术馆自1992 年开馆以来，每年平均举办各类展览50 次左右，开展各类学术交流活动平均5-6 次； 接纳观众每年达10 万人次； 接待外国客人若干批。近几年，四川美术馆除每年举办几次全省美术作品展，还相继举办了徐悲鸿画展； 潘天寿画展； 全国版画展； 全国山水展； 中国西部大地情中国画大展； 以及台湾、韩国、日本、丹麦、法国等地区和国家的各项展览，在国内外具有较高声誉和影响。

Sichuan Art Museum

Founded in May 1992, the Sichuan Art Museum lies at the heart of the Chengdu City, the political, commercial and cultural center of west China. At the west side of the Tianfu Square, close to the People s Park, the Provincial Exhibition Hall, the Chengdu Stadium and the Sichuan Antique Store Building, the Museum is situated in the gold area of the city where many cultural, commercial, and recreational facilities get together, Covering about one acre, the Sichuan Art Museum has 6000 Square meters construction area.

The entrance hall of the museum is about 300square meters, stepping up along the stair in the entrance hall, visitors could arrive the second exhibition hall on the first floor and the third one on the second floor. The first exhibition hall covering 400square meters is at the downstairs, The second hall covers 740 square meters and the third one 450covers square meters, Outside every exhibition hall, there is a public area about 200 square meters. The height of the exhibition hall is 6 meters and that of the exhibition wall is 4 meters, In the Museum there are a gallery (300 square meters), an art bookstore(200 square meters), an artist s stationery, and a caf and tea house. In the east part of the Museum, there sits an office building of 6 stories. On the roof of the Museum there is a roof garden and 7 standard rooms, each one is of 24 square meters.

The Sichuan Art Museum has collected more than 200masterpieces by well-known artists from Song Dynasty to the present age. The Shenzhou Print Picture Museum in the Sichuan Art Museum has collected almost 4000 pieces of print pictures by domestic and foreign artists.

Since its founding, the Sichuan Art Museum holds in average about 50 exhibition events and receives 100 thousand of visitors per year, Besides, the Museum also holds academic exchanges 5 or 6 times annually, In recent years, the Sichuan Art Museum periodically organized several provincial art exhibition annually and successfully held national art exhibition for many times, Moreover, the Museum also successfully held lots of exhibition events for those art works from Korea, Japan, Denmark, France and come other countries.
