山东美术馆建立于1977年6月，占地面积12，000平方米，总建筑面积为5，300平方米，展厅面积2300平方米，画库、后勤保障、办公区域面积3，000平方米。设有办公室、美术研究创作部、联络部、展览部、收藏部、办公室、行政科、保卫科等7个职能部门。现有职工39人，研究人员3人，策展人员4人。

    山东美术馆以收藏1949年以来各个时期山东代表性画家的精品力作为主旨，同时也注意收集古今中外名家之佳作。目前该馆已征集到各类艺术作品600余幅，其中不乏名家精品。此外还把搜集和收藏民间美术品成为收藏工作的重要内容。现已收藏年画、剪纸、农民画、面塑、陶瓷、印染花布、刺绣、玩具等各类民间工艺美术品2，000余件。其中，木版年画和民间剪纸，数量多、质量好、品种全、年代早，不乏罕见珍品。该馆先后在日本、香港、北京、上海、天津等地举办馆藏作品展览。为了加强藏品的管理，建有专用画库，建立了藏品艺术档案。

    山东美术馆自建馆以来，除了承办全国、全省大型展览之外，还先后举办了华东地区、中央美院、中国美院以及北京、上海、江苏、黑龙江、陕西、云南、贵州、四川等省市的国画、油画、版画、连环画、水彩粉画和剪纸展览。邀请过孙其峰、武中奇、崔子范、李百忍、叶浅予、全山石、刘海粟、刘国松、谢稚柳、陈佩秋、周思聪、黄胄、黄永玉、许麟庐等著名书画家来馆举办作品展。举办了俞剑华、黄秋园、李超士等已故省内外著名书画家的遗作展。为发挥对外交流窗口作用，我馆还先后接待、举办了美国、英国、南斯拉夫、澳大利亚、日本、西德、韩国、委内瑞拉、法国、比利时、保加利亚、西班牙、新加坡以及香港、台湾等十几个国家和地区的造型艺术展，多次与这些国家和地区进行学术交流活动。迄今为止，共举办各类艺术展览900余个，作品14万余件，接待观众约200余万人次。

Shandong Art Museum

The Shandong Art Museum was established in June 1977. It covers an area of 12,000 square meters -5,300 square meters of which is floor space, 2,300 square meters of which is exhibition hall area and 3,000 square meters of which is storehouse, logistics and office area. There are 7 functional areas in the Museum, namely the Office, Art Research & Creation Department, Exhibition Department, Collection Department, Administration Section, Security Section. The museum employs 39 employees, 3 researchers, and 4 exhibition planners.

The Shandong Art Museum has focused on collecting excellent works by outstanding painters in Shandong Province as well as domestic and international masters. The museum has to date collected over 600 art works of various types, including a number of top-notch pieces created by famous artists. Its more than 2,000 pieces of folk art, including New Year pictures, paper-cuttings, farmer paintings, dough sculptures, pottery and porcelain, Chinese printed and dyed textiles, embroidery and toys are characteristics of the Museum. The museum has the largest number of New Year's wood block pictures and folk paper cuttings (some of which are treasures) in the world. These pieces are also the best quality and most wide-ranging in the world, and with the long history. The Museum has promoted research and exchanges by holding exhibitions in Japan, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin. In order to strengthen the management of the museum pieces, it has set up a special drawing storehouse and compiled art files for the pieces.

Since its establishment, Shandong Art Museum has hosted exhibitions of traditional Chinese paintings, oil paintings, engravings, picture storybooks, watercolors and pastel paintings and paper-cuts from Eastern China, the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the China Academy of Art, as well as Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Heilongjiang, Shaanxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, and more. The Museum has also held large-scale national and provincial exhibitions. Sun Qifeng, Wu Zhongqi, Cui Zifan, Li Bairen, Ye Qianyu, Quan Shanshi, Liu Haisu, Liu Guosong, Xie Zhiliu, Chen Peiqiu, Zhou Sicong, Huang Zhou, Huang Yongyu, Xu Linlu and other well-known artists have been invited to have exhibitions here. Exhibitions have also been dedicated to the works of the late artists Yu Jianhua, Huang Qiuyuan, Li Chaoshi. For the purpose of giving full play to our role as a window for cultural exchanges, we have received cultural delegations from and held art exhibitions for dozens of countries (regions) including the United States, UK, Yugoslavia, Australia, Japan, West Germany, South Korea, Venezuela, France, Belgium, Spain, Singapore, and Hong Kong, Taiwan. We also have academic exchanges with these countries and regions. Thus far, we have hosted more than 900 art exhibitions of various kinds, displayed 140,000 or so exhibits, and received nearly 2 million visitors.
