泰国曼谷文化艺术中心
曼谷文化艺术中心位于水门区路口,将于2007年底正式对外开放。这座8层高的当代艺术展览馆坐落在曼谷最大的商业区附近,是曼谷市政府筹划中的文化项目之一。它隶属于曼谷艺术文化中心基金会,是首批得到政府官方资助的当代艺术项目之一,也将成为泰国官方与私人展开合作的一个契机。早在1997年,很多艺术家和艺术倡导者就在呼吁这一项目的实施。迄今为止,曼谷市政府的领导成员经历了三次换届,但这一项目仍得到许多人的支持并得以延续,该项目于2005年11月开始动工,占地总面积达25,000平方米,其中美术馆展厅占地3,000平方米,延展展厅面积1,000平方米,另有大礼堂、多功能厅、会议室、图书馆以及商业区等设施。
曼谷文化艺术中心致力于展示视觉艺术作品以及其它形式的艺术品。该中心的收藏既体现对泰国当代艺术的关注,同时也包括近几十年的泰国艺术作品。展览的主题涉及当代文化艺术,包括摄影、设计、时尚、戏剧等。
该中心成立后不仅要在本土的当代文化语境中展示泰国当代艺术的状况,还要承担将其传达给观众的重任,从而满足泰国首都一千两百万人对当代艺术的审美需要,推动泰国的公众艺术文化教育的发展。而这个目标的实现依赖于对公众审美需要以及文化背景的尊重,也就是要展示受到公众审美经验和文化背景关注的音乐,戏剧,电影,时尚,文学和设计以及它们所体现出来的传统理念、多元文化、当代艺术以及生活方式。同时,该中心还将为政府、地方机构以及私人组织之间的合作提供一个平台,并通过合作逐渐积累自身的资源。即将成立曼谷文化艺术中心在人才配备、硬件设施以及制度建立等方面都将达到国际水平,并将举办许多大型国际文化艺术交流活动,从而提升泰国文化艺术在国际艺术界的影响力。
Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Thailand
The Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Patumwan Intersection (BACC) is scheduled to be operational by late 2007. This 8-storey (plus 3 underground stories) venue for contemporary art is located adjacent to Bangkok’s most extensive shopping district. Being an independent entity under the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre foundation, the Art Centre is just one of several cultural projects in the making by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration which will serve as an agency to promote, support, and create opportunities, for the cooperation between of government agencies, local authorities, and private sector organization. The project was first initiated by artists and art advocates back in 1997, and was kept alive through three successive governorships. The construction of its premises has been going on since November 2005.
The BACC covers about 25,000 square meters while gallery space holds an area of 3,000 square meters and extended exhibition space takes up 1,000 square meters. In addition, there is a auditorium, 300 seat multi-function hall, meeting rooms, 600 square meters library, 200 square meters conservation area and commercial space covering 1,250 square meters.(shops and restaurants)
This centre is not only dedicated to some visual fine art works, but also to display all kinds of new media art. The Centre has as yet to acquire its own collection of Contemporary Art. Nevertheless it aims to display contemporary Thai art of the last few decades, long side current works. Themes of exhibitions may be drawn from contemporary culture, from photography, design, fashion and theatre.
Moreover, the BACC will engage to show the status of contemporary art itself, what it is within the context of the local, current culture, and as much emphasis will be given to its audience. In this case, the building of the BACC will address the need for contemporary art facilities in Thailand’s capital city of 12 million so that the development of Thailand’s public art education will be promoted. To achieve this aim, the BACC will implement cultural work in a way that respects experience and cultural backgrounds of the people, from traditional heritage, diverse cultures, contemporary art and lifestyle as expressed through music, theatre, film, fashion, literature, and design. At the same time, this centre will supply a platform for government institution, local authorities and private organization, which is also supposed to build a network and accumulate resources for the artistic and cultural work.
Being one of the first major contemporary art projects with official support, the newly built Bangkok Art and Culture Centre will establish and develop an institution with high diathesis personnel, advanced facilities that meet with international standards. Also, the centre will host many international art and culture exchange to enhance the prestige of Bangkok Metropolis to the level of an international city of art and culture. |
