    2006年是中国与东盟建立对话关系15周年暨中国东盟友好合作年,根据中国国务院总理温家宝的倡议,于8月31日在北京举办第8届亚洲艺术节,经文化部部长孙家正在第二届东盟中日韩文化部长会议上的提议,举办亚洲美术馆馆长论坛,并将其纳入第8届亚洲艺术节的系列项目。

    “亚洲美术馆馆长论坛—东盟中日韩主题会议”由中华人民共和国文化部主办,中国美术馆承办。本次会议得到了东盟秘书长王景荣先生的大力支持,得到了东盟以及中日韩各国美术博物馆的积极响应,同时也得到了中国驻相关国家使馆文化处的协力。会议于2006年8月31日至9月2日在北京举行。出席此次会议的有东盟十国以及中日韩各国的美术博物馆的馆长(或代表)以及研究东南亚美术的专家学者,会议还特邀了一些其他国家的美术博物馆的代表。这次会议是亚洲美术博物馆界的一次高峰会议,也是中国乃至亚洲美术博物馆发展史上具有里程碑意义的盛会。

    此次论坛旨在联合亚洲各国的美术博物馆,尤其是东盟和中日韩各国的美术博物馆,共同探讨当代亚洲美术的问题,研究亚洲地区的美术博物馆在收藏、展示、研究等方面的共同问题和特殊问题,使亚洲艺术通过美术馆这一平台表现出一种整合性的力量,从而为当代亚洲美术的发展作出新的贡献。此次会议分馆长论坛、学术论坛、特别论坛三部分,主要议题有:

    1、亚洲美术博物馆的建设与发展;
    2、亚洲美术博物馆的交流、合作与发展趋向;
    3、亚洲美术博物馆的收藏、展示和研究;
    4、东盟中日韩美术博物馆的合作与交流;
    5、亚洲美术的区域文化特征;
    6、当代亚洲美术的发展;
    7、东盟的经济合作与美术交流;
    8、21世纪中国的美术博物馆。

    参加本次论坛的各国馆长将在“馆长论坛”中作主旨发言;参加本次论坛的各国学者以及艺术家将在“学术论坛”中探讨相关的学术课题;而中国大陆和台港澳地区的美术馆馆长将集中在“特别论坛”中研究21世纪中国的美术博物馆问题。

    为配合本次论坛,将举办两个特别展览。一、“时代之遇:新加坡美术馆藏东南亚美术精品展”,由中国美术馆和新加坡美术馆共同策划和主办。展览从社会及人本两个视角,精选了东盟十国58名艺术家的71件具代表性的作品。二、“中国美术馆国际设计邀请展”,此展以“绿色奥运·国际海报设计”为主题,邀请了国际上著名的27位设计师的133件设计作品参加。这些作品在一定程度上反映了当代国际设计艺术的潮流和方向,而以展览的形式所建构的展示与交流当代设计艺术的平台,对于促进中外设计界的交流,推动当代中国设计艺术的发展,将发挥重要的作用和影响。


Introduction of Asian Art Museum Directors' Forum

The year 2006 marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of a bilateral relationship and friendly cooperation between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Under Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's proposal, the 8th Asian Art Festival is scheduled to convene in Beijing on August 31. This will coincide with the Asian Art Museum Directors's Forum, which was proposed by the cultural minister Sun Jiazheng at the 2nd AMCA + 3 meeting and which falls
within the 8th Asia Arts Festival.

The Asian Art Museum Directors' Forum: ASEAN + 3 Theme Meeting is being sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of People's Republic of China and undertaken by the National Art Museum of China. The conference has received generous support from ASEAN Secretary-General Mr. Ong Keng Yong and elicited an enthusiastic response from art museums in ASEAN countries, China, Japan and Korea. It has also received assistance from the culture council of China embassies in relevant countries. The conference that will be held in Beijing from August 31st to September 2nd in 2006, will be attended by the directors
(or their representatives) of art museums in ASEAN countries, China, Japan and Korea as well as experts in Southeast Asian art. The Meeting will also invite some representatives from other countries' art museums. This will be a summit meeting for the art museum field in Asia, and a historical gathering for Chinese and Asian art museums.

The forum aims to unite all Asian art museums especially those in ASEAN countries, China, Japan and Korea to jointly discuss issues facing contemporary Asian fine art and address problems with collection, exhibition, and research in which are common and unique to Asian art museums. It will thus make a contribution to the development of contemporary Asian fine arts, and will help to create a united platform for Asian art museums to work together. The conference includes a forum for directors, an academic forum and a special forum.

It will focus on: 1. Construction and development of Asian art museums; 2. Trends in exchanges, cooperation and development for Asian art museums; 3. Collections, exhibitions and research in Asian art museums; 4. Cooperation and exchanges among art museums in the ASEAN + 3 countries; 5. Regional cultural characteristics of Asian fine art; 6. Development of contemporary Asian fine arts; 7. ASEAN economic cooperation and exchanges in fine arts; 8. Chinese art museums in the 21st century. Directors at the forum will deliver theme speeches in the forum for directors , scholars and artists will discuss relevant academic subjects in the academic forum , and directors of art museums in mainland China as well as those in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao will explore Chinese art museums in the 21st century in the special forum.

Two special exhibitions will be held at the same time of the forum. The first is Encounters: Southeast Asian Art in Singapore Art Museum Collection, which co-organized and sponsored by National Art Museum of China and Singapore Art Museum. With visual angles of society and humanism, the exhibition selected 71 representative works of 58 artists from ASEAN countries. The other is International Design Exhibition Held by The National Art Museum of China with the theme Green Olympic: International Poster Design . 133 works by 27 world famous designers will be on display. These reflect to a certain degree the trends in contemporary international design art. The exhibition platform of contemporary international design and exchanges will play a significant role and exert a profound influence in promoting exchanges between Chinese and foreign designers, and pushing forward the development of contemporary design art.
