毕业于印度著名的萨亚基劳王公大学创意绘画专业。他不仅是印度莱特卡拉学会的学者，也是印度教育文化部的国家级专家。1985年至1987年， 瑞杰夫·卢臣获得日本政府研究基金，此后又在1994年获得该项基金。他曾任文化部高级研究员和人力资源发展部部长，并于1999年和2000年分别荣获Sahitya Kala Parishad 奖和国家学术奖。卢臣教授多次举办个人作品展，其作品在国内外的多个展览中参展，深受印度及世界各地私人收藏家和博物馆的亲徕。卢臣教授对艺术深有研究，并曾在印度和日本的许多知名大学和论坛进行演讲。他在1984年至1985年期间一直担任《链接》杂志的专栏作家，并在多家重要的期刊杂志上发表文章。同时，他也是一名学者，在印度德里大学、印度国立伊斯兰大学以及其他五家著名机构任职，比如，大众传媒、研究中心、CCRT、国家现代美术馆等。目前，他担任国家现代美术馆馆长，从2001年上任以来他为国家现代美术馆策划了多项大型展览活动。

Prof. Rajeev Lochan graduated from the prestigious Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda with a specialization in Creative Painting. He remained a UP Lalit Kala Akademi Cultural Scholar and was a National Scholar of the Ministry of Education and Culture. Recipient of the Japanese Government Research Scholarship between 1985-1987 he also received the Japanese Government Research Fellowship in 1994. He was awarded the Senior Fellowship of the Department of Culture, Ministry of Human Resource Development and received the Sahitya Kala Parishad award in 1999 along with the National Academy Award in 2000. Prof. Lochan has held several exhibitions of his works and has participated in innumerable group exhibitions both in the country and abroad .His works adorn in several private collections and museums both in India as well as the other parts of the world. He has extensively lectured at several important niversities and Forums both in India and Japan and has researched several aspects of art including addressing the World Culture Forum in Japan with a keynote address in 2003. Having been a columnist for the Link magazine between 1984-1985, his writings have been published in several important journals and have been presented invarious seminars. He has been an academician and was on the Faculty of Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia along with five other important institutions like Mass Communication and Research Centre, CCRT, National Gallery of Modern Art etc. He is currently the Director of the National Gallery of Modern Art since 2001 and has curated several important exhibitions for the National Gallery of Modern Art. He continues to practice art and live in New Delhi.
