On January 7, 2017, Tibet in the Heaven - Joint Exhibition of Top Tibetan Thang-ga Works was unveiled in the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC). The event was jointly sponsored by the Publicity Department of Communist Party of China Tibet Regional Committee, NAMOC, Tibetan Regional Culture Department, and Tibetan Autonomous Regional Federation of Literary and Art Circles. The exhibition, an aid-Tibet project of NAMOC, won vigorous support from the Ministry of Culture. It put on show a large number of excellent Thang-ga works created by contemporary Tibetan painters and Thang-ga artists.
The exhibition displayed large quantities of excellent Thang-ga works from Tibetan painters and Thang-ga artists. The exhibited works featured rigorous painting styles, delicate strokes, and composed and thick color application. They inherited the techniques of the five major traditional schools of Thang-ga paintings, while borrowed and integrated modern painting skills, showing characteristic styles. They included works of older generation artists, as well as productions of emerging Tibetan Thang-ga artists.
