Military artist Zhao Wenyuan displays his paintings on horses
Born in Zhejiang, Jiangsu province, Zhao Wenyuan joined the army in 1964 and received systematic training of the art in Zhejiang Art Academy, Art Academy of the People’s Liberation Army and the Central Academy of Fine Arts between 1969 and 1987. The artist is skilled in artistic creation on the theme of army horses.
One of the most appealing artworks is “Precious horses of different dynasties” created in 2008. The painting showing imperial horses of the emperors of the dynasties, is expected to reflect the brotherhood of the people of all the ethnic groups and the spirit of forging ahead in the Chinese nation. Zhao Wenyuan adopts fine handicrafts of different dynasties as background in order to enrich the effect of the painting and paints imperial seals of the emperors of past dynasties in a bid to add the sense of reality.
Zhao Wenyuan has made great efforts to seek creation inspiration and skills in different fields, such as the sculpture, the oil painting, the engraved painting, the photograph, the folk art and drama. The artist applies his researches and learning into his artistic creation.
The exhibition opens at Hall 2 and 3 until Dec. 5.
