Liu Songyan holds a landscape exhibition
Sponsored by Beijing Research Institute of Culture and History and Beijing Federation of Literary and Art Circles, an exhibition entitled “Long Great Wall ? Young Chinese nation” is currently on display at the National Art Museum of China.
Liu Songyan is an outstanding landscape painter, calligrapher, educator and artistic theoretician in China’s modern time. Graduated from Peking University in 1951, he is currently librarian for Beijing Research Institute of Culture and History. With devotion to the art for the past seventy years, the artist has developed unique artistic style through combing the tradition with the innovation. He is reputed as “Great Wall painter” for the majority of his paintings focusing on the historical site.
The exhibition comprises more than 70 landscape paintings. He always insisted that the tradition should be formed during the process of constant innovation. Most of the exhibits reflect his traveling mountains and rivers through the whole country. The artist boasts a solid professional foundation and natural painting skills.
The exhibition opens at Hall3 of the museum since Sept. 13 until Sept. 19.
