To celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Poland, an exhibition named “Beyond Faces-Masks, Puppets and Shadow Art from the NAMOC Collection” will be held from October 25th, 2014 to March 1st, 2015, jointly organized by the National Art Museum of China (the NAMOC) and the State Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw. After nearly a year’s careful preparation, more than 230 sets of precious works have been selected from the NAMOC collection, including masks, puppets and shadow puppets, to render the unique charm of Chinese traditional arts to the Polish people.
Masks, puppets and shadow puppets have a long history and are widely popular in China, with a lot of style diversity. For this exhibition, 230 sets of precious works of masks, puppets, shadow puppets have been carefully selected from the NAMOC collection, divided into four chapters:Temperament of Make-up, Expression of Civilization, Legend at Hand, Elves of light and shadow.
