Anhui is rich in natural scenery, historical and cultural heritage, and brilliant in calligraphy and painting art. The new Anhui School of painting has been splendid in the past and the present, and the style of calligraphy between the Yangtze River and Huai River has a widespread influence. There emerged such masters of calligraphy and painting as Jian Jiang, Shi Tao, Mei Qing, Xiao Yuncong, Dai Benxiao, Cheng Sui, Deng Shiru, Huang Binhong, Lai Shaoqi and Lin Sanzhi. Since the reform and opening up, with the rapid rise of Anhui economy, the Huizhou culture has flourished again, and calligraphy and painting art has realized unprecedented development. New Era and New Huizhou School is a comprehensive exhibition of the calligraphy and painting art in Anhui province. To carry out the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and to commemorate the 40 years of reform and opening up in China, this exhibition will reflect the creative vitality, great changes in social development, and people's spiritual outlook brought about by the reform and opening up to Anhui over the past 40 years. It will display the painting and calligraphy art of Huizhou School that continues with the past and opens up the future, and its new achievements in contemporary development. It will present in multiple ways the spiritual outlook, aesthetic feelings and artistic footprints of Anhui calligraphers and painters that take root in life, serve the people, love nature, love the native land, and follow the times with the brush and ink.
