Kang Ning was born in 1938 in Jinzhou, Liaoning province. He moved to Beijing in 1948. Kang Ning loved calligraphy and traditional Chinese painting since childhood. He graduated from Beijing Arts and Crafts School in 1962, and took Li Kuchan, master of traditional Chinese painting, as his teacher in the same year. Since then, he followed Mr. Li for more than twenty years, digging into Chinese freehand flower and bird paintings. The exhibition displays over 50 masterpieces of Kang Ning in various stages, to reflect the characteristics and achievements of the artist in Chinese great freehand brushwork of flowers and birds.
