Zhu Zhengeng (1939 - 2012), born in 1939 in Xuzhou, is a native of Tianjin. In 1980, he graduated from the Chinese Painting postgraduate class of Central Academy of Fine Arts. He is member of the Chinese Artists Association, deputy director of Hubei Artists Association, professor of Fine Arts Department of Huazhong Normal University. Having long been engaged in Chinese painting teaching and modern heavy color painting’s creation and research, he is a representative painter of Chinese traditional figure painting of modern China.
Zhu Zhengeng is a creative ink painter. In the impact and blend of cultural background between Chinese and Western culture, and in the transformation of the traditional ink painting to the modern style, he takes a large number of sketches facing the society and life, expressing the inner heart as the foundation and draws out the most compelling language symbols from the Western modern art, Chinese folk art, and traditional literati painting to create Zhu Zhengeng’s ink paradigm. The exhibition will show about 200 ink, color ink, line drawing and sketches of Zhu Zhengeng and comprehensively review his artistic life, showing his achievements and contribution in the field of Chinese ink painting.
