Introduction to the work:
Ha Ding is one of the second-generation watercolor painters after Zhang Meisun, Zhang Chongren and Pan Sitong. Born in Shanghai in 1923, he learned Traditional Chinese Painting from his grandfather, proprietor of West Cold Club. Later his interest with western art took place that of Traditional Chinese Painting and learned watercolor and oil painting from Zhang Chongren. He also opened an atelier and taught fine art. Now he is a top-class artist of Shanghai Oil Painting & Sculpture Institute.

Ha Ding is good at portraiture and scenery paintings. The present painting shows the Nine-bent Bridge in a bird's view. The extending bridge leads viewers to the pavilions on the water. The painter made full use of the transparent effect of the watercolor painting and adopted the special skills of gluing and mixing colors, which created the shining effect of the extending water. The easy painting skill and the contrast between the buildings and the pool make the whole painting lively. "Scenery in the North" and "The Fastigium of the World" are his masterpieces.
