The National Art Museum of China and China Art Academy is now holding 2010 Chinese Contemporary Art Invitation Exhibition entitled “Construction Dimension” at Hall 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9 until 2 September.
The exhibition chooses the theme of “construction dimension”. On the one hand, the exhibition is expected to reflect the diversified creation pattern of the contemporary Chinese art and the unique exploration of the artists as well as the relation and interaction between the contemporary art and the social and cultural society. On the other hand, the show is hoped to highlight the constructive value of the contemporary art in the development of the contemporary culture. Along with the relevant academic documents published and the academic seminars attended by more than 30 theorists, the show is to provide an overview of cultural meaning and the creative characteristics of the contemporary Chinese art and helpful experience in order to play a active leading role in promoting the future development of the contemporary Chinese art. The exhibits comprise a total of more than 50 works, over 10 of which are on debut to the public.




The academic goals of the exhibition lie in the following four aspects: first, to present the connection and interaction between the contemporary art and the reality of Chinese social culture in different historical periods, and focus on the characteristics and significance embodied in the process of participating in the contemporary culture construction; second, to highlight the artistic, cultural and spiritual values reflected by the construction and emphasize the openness and the pluralism in terms of different dimensions; third, to highlight the research value of the artistic cases, and draw the outline the basic development and diversified creation pattern of the contemporary Chinese art on the basis of studying the cases of participated artists; fourth, to help the public know and appreciate the contemporary artistic works.
The exhibition has aroused widespread concerns in the artistic circle and even the society. A total of 20 artists as distinguished lecturers by China Art Academy take part in the exhibition, including Luo Zhongli, Fang Lijun, Zhang Xiaogang, Zeng Fanzhi, Wang Jianwei, Wang Guangyi, Xu Bing, Xu Jiang and Wei Ershen.
The sponsors hope to reflect the pursuit of the contemporary art is to hold tightly the time pulse in the development process of the Chinese contemporary society, represent the concerns about the theme through unique representation and unique artistic language. And the show is to help the audience appreciate the rich connotation and the artistic appeal of the works, highlight the creation of the contemporary Chinese art with novelty of the conception and form. The exhibition is the first show to the public since the founding of China Art Academy in an open communication.
