In the history of mutual cultural exchanges, the modeling art has taken an important position. Especially in the 1950s and the 1960s, the artists from two countries maintained frequent communications, appreciated the artwork of each other, developed academic exchanges and established profound friendship. Nowadays, the artists have more opportunities for mutual visits and are making in-depth dialogues concerning the art. “Open horizon —Fine works exhibition of the modern Chinese art” is the very first sign of this kind.
Created since the reform and the opening up to the outside world especially in the past two decades, a total of 56 groups of exhibits feature diversity and variety with a wide range of artistic forms including ink paintings, oil paintings, devices and images. The exhibition reflects the unique outlook of the modern Chinese art with the focus on the relation among the nature, the city and the human. It also reveals such ideas of the modern transformation of the traditional Chinese natural concept, the confrontation of the humane concern to the urban reality and the introspection and the examination of the philosophical question of “existence”. The exhibition intends to provide an open spiritual vision as well as an international artistic insight. It is under the open and interactive international context that the modern Chinese art will become more active and mature.
