Organized by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Finance, a number of artistic troupes at different levels have been invited to universities and schools across the country since 2005. Until now, more than 5 million college students are the direct beneficiaries of the program.   

In order to enable the college students to appreciate the appeal of fine works in a direct way, the organizing committee of the program introduces a new project called “Exhibition Tour from the National Art Museum of China’s Collection”. It is the first time that a modeling artistic exhibition at national level has entered the college. Previously, the program was focused on the performance art including the music, the dance and the drama. The section of the visual art was mostly educated in the form of professional lectures. 

“Exhibition Tour from the National Art Museum of China’s Collection” comprises two theme shows, namely, “China’s Oil Paintings Exhibition in the 20th century” and “Charm of the Traditional Chinese Paintings in the 20th century ”. The exhibits include a number of masterpieces by the most representative artists in the 20th century. The works represent the overall level of the artistic development in the past century as well as the great changes of the society from different perspectives. The oil painting as an alien art is an important part of the Chinese contemporary art with its strong cultural connotations and significant social influence. The traditional Chinese paintings has developed to be a modern artistic form boasting strong time spirit and ethnic characteristics from an old classic art. 

As the exhibits are treasures from the National Art Museum of China, higher requirements have been met in terms of the area, the space, the temperature and the humidity of the exhibition hall. After deliberate survey and research, the organizing committee decides to establish plot areas in five universities in Beijing. The debut is unveiled on March 5 in Minzu University of China entitled “China’s Oil Paintings Exhibition in the 20th century”. 

The exhibition tour will trip to Beihang University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Normal University and Capital Normal University. The sponsor will organize a professional lecture during each exhibition. The National Art Museum of China will open a related homepage with the exhibition tour to establish a platform for the teachers and the students to exchange views.
