Sponsored by the Artistic Department of the Ministry of Culture and the Cultural Bureau of Shaanxi Provincial Government, an exhibition on the NAMOC-collected fine works entitled Affection in West China set off on Sept.10, 2008 at the Shaanxi Art Museum and passed through Shanghai, Xiamen and Wuhan.
As an important event to support the western region in the field of the national culture, the show consists of a total of 128 items including the traditional Chinese paintings, oil paintings and woodcut paintings and is divided into three sections, namely, the footprints of the predecessors, the charm of the western region and the origin of the Yellow River. With an overall review of the artistic practice in the western region since the 20th century, the exhibition reflects the evolution and the historical and the current characteristics of the art in the western region. The show is also of great academic significance to understand the historical construction and the contemporary orientation of the national artistic spirits in the global context. And it showcases the natural beauty and the social reforms in West China.
Collecting various works by artists of different periods, the exposition reflects the skills of the contemporary artists in the western regions, leaving a cordial impression and long-lost touch to the audiences.
