With cooperation of the National Art Museum of China, Korean National Museum of Contemporary Art unveiled an exhibition called Floating-The New generation of Art in China from Aug. 17 to Nov. 17, 2007, which was hoped to introduce the Chinese new-rising artists and their masterpieces.Focused on fine works by a group of representative young artists, the show intended to embody various layers of the Chinese contemporary art and further indicate the integrity of the new generation with careful choices about the artists and their works. Among the participants are those skilled in the new outlooks including Zeng Fanzhi, Zhan Wang and Zhao Bandi. Included are those engaged in exploring the art substance and language and concerning the changing real life, such as Chen Wenbo, He Sen, Cui Xiuwen, Xing Danwen, Shi Jinsong and Zhang Xiaotao. A number of artists, born in the 1980s with increasing concerns and affirmation recently, present their work in the show, such as Chi Peng. With special introduction are some younger artists forming a style of the new generation of the Chinese art, including Zhen Yun, Li Hao, Yan Kai. Floating, the topic of this exposition, is also considered as its hallmark and symbol. The show not only has raised questions to the development of the Chinese contemporary art but also provided a high-quality platform for the academic exchanges among more excellent young artists. It is a very important cultural exchange project concerning the contemporary art of the National Art Museum of China in 2007.
