Outstanding Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition Themed by "Love China - Voluntary Service Action Aiming to Subsidize Millions of Empty Nesters" hosted by Volunteer Service Foundation of China, Chinese Calligraphers Association, Chinese Artists Association and National Art Museum of China shall be held in the Art Museum of China from July 29, 2010 to August 5, 2010.
"The voluntary service action aiming to care millions of empty nesters" was jointly carried out by the Central Civilization Office, Ministry of Civil Affairs and National Women's Federation, to organize volunteers (especially younger elderly but healthy volunteers) to help those senile empty nesters and exclude the difficulties and anxieties for them, aiming to develop and expand the moral values of " expanding the respect of the aged in one’s family to that of other families ". To promote the deep and continuous implementation of activities, the activity of collecting painting and calligraphy works themed by “Love China - Voluntary Service Action Aiming to Subsidize Millions of Empty Nesters " was jointly organized by Volunteer Service Foundation of China, Chinese Calligraphers Association, Chinese Artists Association and National Art Museum of China in January, 2010. Chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association Zhang Hai and Chairman of the Chinese Artists Association Liu Dawei attached great importance and practiced by themselves, followed by the active response of many artists and painting enthusiasts who all gave out their loves. The works donated summed up to over 2,000 pieces, some of which shall be displayed on the coming exhibition. The outstanding works include the complete version of calligraphy works named "Analects of Confucius" and "Tao Te Ching" which were jointly created by 300 calligraphers including Shen Peng, Ouyang Zhongshi, Li Duo and Zhang Hai, l "Auspicious Banna" and "Spring Song" collectively created and headed by Liu Dawei , and "Good Rivers and Mountains of China", the series of art works created by such famous painters as Huang Gesheng, which display the collective wisdoms and strengths and embody the social responsibility of artists.
After the exhibition, the works will be auctioned for charity. All the auction income will be donated to the Volunteer Service Foundation of China to subsidize the launching of "the voluntary service action aiming to care millions of empty nesters".
